Our review methodology is built around one goal: honest, useful buying advice. Every product we cover goes through the same structured review methodology – research, hands-on evaluation, and scoring across build quality, performance, value, and real-world use.
Review Methodology Overview
We judge products by real-world value, not spec sheets or marketing. Our tier lists and reviews reflect how a product actually performs in everyday use – not just in controlled benchmarks.
1. Research the Field
We start by identifying the products people actually consider in a category and price range, drawing on expert reviews, retailer listings, and large volumes of verified user feedback.
2. Define Scoring Criteria
Each category has a tailored set of criteria. A mechanical keyboard is judged on switch feel, build quality, and software. A chair is judged on lumbar support, adjustability, and long-term comfort. We weight criteria by what matters most to buyers.
3. Test and Evaluate
Where possible, we test products hands-on. For products we cannot test physically, we conduct deep research across verified user reviews, teardowns, and expert analyses to form a reliable judgment.
4. Score and Rank
Each product receives a score from 0 to 10. Scores drive our tier lists – but we always explain the reasoning behind every placement so you can weigh factors yourself.
5. Keep It Updated
Markets change. We revisit rankings when significant new products launch or when prices shift enough to change the value equation. Date stamps on every review show when it was last verified.
