PS Plus Extra’s July 28 Lineup Adds Dying Light, Citizen Sleeper 2, and Two More Games
Sony has confirmed the next wave of PS Plus Extra additions for July 28: the original open-world zombie survival game Dying Light, choice-driven RPG Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, retro beat ‘em up Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, and the 3D snow platformer Snow Bros. Wonderland. All four land on the Extra tier, one week after the July 21 wave that added Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Firefighting Simulator: Ignite.
What’s actually joining
Dying Light is the headliner by a wide margin — Techland’s 2015 parkour-zombie survival game still holds up, and it’s the kind of 40-plus-hour open world that justifies a subscription tier by itself. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is the more interesting pick for anyone who missed it: a narrative RPG about an escaped synthetic worker navigating a lawless space frontier, built on dice-based choice mechanics rather than combat. It’s a smaller, stranger game than Dying Light, and exactly the kind of title Extra’s catalog model exists to surface to players who’d never buy it at full price.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind and Snow Bros. Wonderland round out the wave as lighter, shorter genre pieces — a co-op beat ‘em up riffing on ’90s arcade brawlers and a 3D platformer respectively. Neither is going to headline anyone’s month, but both fit the pattern Sony has leaned on all year: pair one or two prestige catalog games with a couple of smaller, easy-to-clear titles that pad out the perceived value of the tier.
Worth noting for anyone who already owns Dying Light on another platform: this is the original 2015 game, not the Dying Light: The Beast spinoff or Dying Light 2. The PlayStation Store listing confirms it’s the Definitive Edition — the base campaign plus the Dying Light: The Following expansion and other major DLC bundled in, not a stripped-down version of the game.

Why this matters beyond the game list
This is now the second wave of Extra additions in July alone, following the July 21 drop of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Firefighting Simulator: Ignite for Extra, plus Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Indigo Prophecy for Premium subscribers. Sony has been running PS Plus on a noticeably faster release cadence in 2026 than in prior years, adding games roughly every week instead of the old once-a-month batch drop — a shift clearly aimed at competing with Xbox Game Pass’s constant stream of additions rather than PlayStation’s older, slower catalog rhythm.
Regional rollout remains uneven, though: Sony is still staggering release timing across the US, UK, and Japan for some titles, meaning the exact moment these games unlock in your library can vary by a day or two depending on region, even though July 28 is the announced date globally. That staggering was more pronounced earlier this month — Rise of the Ronin, one of July’s biggest catalog additions, hit US and UK accounts on July 15 while the rest of the world had to wait until July 21, a full week of asymmetric access that drew its own round of complaints from subscribers outside those two markets.
What’s next
Sony has already confirmed the pipeline runs well past this wave — Big Walk lands on the Essential tier August 4, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams joins Premium mid-August, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds is confirmed for Extra in mid-September. If Sony holds this weekly cadence through the rest of the year, PS Plus Extra subscribers are looking at one of the densest release schedules the service has had since launch.
If you’re deciding whether Extra is worth the upgrade over Essential at this point, our breakdown of handheld gaming PCs and where cloud/catalog subscriptions fit into that setup is worth a look if you’re planning to play catalog titles like Dying Light on the go. And if you’re weighing PS5 against a PC build for games like Citizen Sleeper 2 that also ship on Steam, we cover that tradeoff in our budget gaming PC build guide.
